What happened

According to police, five people, including a former senator, were killed when a remote-controlled explosive device targeted their vehicle in the Bajur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to sources, the former senator was passing through a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban near the Afghan border to attend an election rally. No one claimed responsibility for the attack and the Pakistani Taliban said in a statement that they were not involved.
