What happened

Official sources report the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) at the Presidential Axis Hotel in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. At the moment, no damage to property or people has been reported. In a statement released by the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction, Darlington Nwauju, the incident is described as part of a series of protests organized by a political group calling for the impeachment of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the declaration of a state of emergency in the country.

Following the event, APC expressed concern over the possibility of an outbreak of guerrilla activity in Rivers State. A similar incident occurred on 19 January 2023 when the APC campaign headquarters at Rumuwoji Municipality was attacked. Six APC members were injured in the incident.
