What happened

The Malian army has announced the killing of 42 suspected terrorists following a “complex car bomb ambush” on the road between Menaka and Ansongo in eastern Mali, which left five soldiers injured. According to the latest reports, a car bomb was detonated in close proximity to a military patrol, but the explosive was neutralised at a safe distance. The military also neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) found 102 kilometers from Ansongo.
