Brig Gen Cyrus Besigye Bekunda, the Joint Staff Chief Engineering, emphasized the importance of discipline and skill enhancement for combat engineers and explosive experts to excel in their army careers. He conveyed this message during the graduation ceremony of 255 students from Combat Engineering Level III and Explosive Ordnance Devices/Improvised Explosive Devices (EOD/IED) Level II courses at the School of Combat Engineers in Karama, Mubende District.
The graduating cohort underwent comprehensive training in core aspects of combat engineering, including organisational skills, rigging techniques, demolition procedures, supply of drinking water, mine warfare operations, identification of booby traps, construction of roads, and the use of rafts. The EOD/IED course comprised training in the theory of explosives, management of EOD operations, contemporary mines, the use of explosives, proficiency in the handling of firearms, political education, drill techniques, financial resilience, and military law.
