What happened

The troops from Operation Desert Sanity III and Operation Hadin Kai successfully eliminated Mallam Muhammadu, a top commander of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) responsible for Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs). This operation was part of a continued offensive against terrorist strongholds in Sambisa Forest, specifically targeting the insurgents’ bases in Ukuba and Njimia in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State. Muhammadu oversaw a significant fabrication workshop for various explosive devices, including Person-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (PBIEDs), VBIEDs, and Roadside-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (RSBIEDs). He also recruited underage children for suicide bombing missions by convincing them they would attain heaven upon their deaths.
