What happened

The ASUGI – Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Giuliano Isontina of Trieste – has reported two new cases of dengue fever. One case has been confirmed, while the other is still under investigation. Both individuals had recently returned from a trip to an area known to be endemic for dengue. Additionally, a confirmed case of dengue has been reported at the Lido of Venice involving a South American tourist, who is now receiving treatment in the Infectious Disease Unit of the Civil Hospital. Venice authorities have implemented an extraordinary disinfestation programme as a precautionary measure.
