The Flamanville nuclear power plant, situated on the northwestern coast of Normandy, is set to become France’s most potent nuclear reactor, with the capacity to supply electricity to two million homes. The first French power plant EPR (European Pressurised Reactor) has been approved for operation by the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN). All this, after twelve years of delay in construction. The approval will enable the project owner to start loading nuclear fuel into the reactor, to generate 1,600 megawatts by the end of 2024.
