A collaborative effort between Italian law enforcement and Interpol resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals of Turkish origin in Milan. This concluded a detailed investigation led by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Milan, Antiterrorism District Section. The suspects face multiple criminal charges, such as participating in an aggravated criminal association, forming armed groups to execute terrorist acts, and unlawfully possessing and carrying lethal weapons and explosives.
The Italian State Police conducted their investigations through telephone and environmental wiretaps and intricate surveillance and tracking operations. They collaborated with the Turkish Kom police, exchanging information via Interpol, official sources stated. Italian authorities have verified that the individuals detained were involved in a conspiracy to launch an assault on a facility in Tekirdag, close to Istanbul, as retaliation for a previous occurrence.
