What happened

In Los Angeles County, more specifically at a Whole Foods supermarket in Beverly Hills, an employee’s case of hepatitis A – a highly contagious liver infection – has been reported. Health officials were investigating and warned that anyone who purchased products from the fish counter between April 20 and May 13 may have been affected and urged to carry out the vaccine. The county’s Department of Public Health said that receiving the vaccine after exposure to the virus could help reduce the risk of developing hepatitis A. For the time being, no other cases have been reported related to the Whole Foods one, but the virus has been found in 5 homeless people for whom the risk is greater because of the reduced hygienic conditions.
