What happened

Two explosive devices detonated in the same region—two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—within a few hours of each other. The first blast occurred at the Bilitang police station in Kohat. Seven people, including four policemen and two civilians, were seriously injured in a grenade explosion. The second explosion took place in the Swat Valley in the Ghlo Kandaw area of the Kabal Tehsil. Eight people, including two soldiers and a former head of the Aman Committee, were killed when a remote-controlled bomb hit their vehicle. Two pedestrians were also killed in the blast. Police and army counter-terrorism units cordoned off the entire area and a search operation was launched. The terrorist group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the Swat attack, while the explosion in Kohat followed the general threats of a banned organisation.
