On Monday, May 6, a phone call was received at the Buenos Aires headquarters of the Argentine Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA), threatening a bomb threat. All security protocols were implemented and the Anti-terrorist Investigation Unit Department of the Argentine Federal Police intervened. During the operation, all the premises were inspected, but nothing was found to define the threat as a “hoax”. Despite being the second call in the year, this type of event cannot be underestimated following the terrorist attack on 18 July 1994 in which a bomb caused the death of 85 people and 300 wounded. Argentine President Javier Milei said that Argentina’s support for Israel in the Middle East conflict had nothing to do with the attack.
