The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced significant progress in the responsible implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) after six months of work. Key developments include the publication of new guidelines to protect critical infrastructure from the harmful impacts of AI and the presentation of a report analysing the risk of AI abuse in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats. In addition, the DHS has established the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board (AISSB) to provide advice on the safe development of AI. In parallel, the DHS AI Corps was launched, an initiative to promote the responsible use of AI in National Security, which aroused strong interest from technology experts.
