What happened

Belgium has inaugurated the new construction site for the production of the Griffon armored vehicles, which will now undergo assembly and testing in Staden, Belgium. These vehicles, set to become operational by 2026, are equipped with advanced weapon systems and will offer versatile capabilities ranging from 7.62 mm calibers to 12.7mm calibers, as well as 40mm grenade launchers. The unveiling of this new construction site, which is set to produce and deliver 382 Griffon armored vehicles between 2025 and 2031, is part of the CaMo project initiated six years ago intending to enhance the interoperability of land forces between France and Belgium and highlights the strategic and industrial partnership between the two countries. As the Belgian Defense Minister stated, a strong industry is essential for a strong defense, and this collaboration is a testament to this synergy.
