What happened

The Africa CDC’s Weekly Event Based Surveillance Report – Africa CDC Epidemic Intelligence Report, dated 28 April 2024, states that the Ministry of Health reported one new suspected case and no deaths from mpox in the Oyo-Alima healthcare areas. To date, a total of 60 cases (19 confirmed, 10 probable, and 31 suspected) and no fatalities from mpox have been recorded across five of the twelve provinces in Congo. Among the confirmed cases, children over 15 years of age represent 58%, and males also constitute 58%.
