According to the Africa CDC’s Weekly Event Based Surveillance Report – Africa CDC Epidemic Intelligence Report (28 April 2024), the Ministry of Health reported 405 new suspected cases and four new deaths (Case Fatality Ratio: 1.0%) due to measles. To date, there have been 4,035 reported cases (64 confirmed and 3,971 suspected) and 11 deaths (Case Fatality Ratio: 0.3%) from measles across 17 of the 23 provinces in Chad this year. This ongoing outbreak began in January 2023. In 2022, measles vaccination coverage for children under one year old in Chad was at 33%.
