The Africa CDC’s Weekly Event Based Surveillance Report, dated 28 April 2024, indicates that the Ministry of Health reported 467 new confirmed cases of dengue fever and no new deaths across two islands. Mauritius reported 340 local cases without any imported cases, while Rodrigues reported 126 local cases and one imported case. This marks a 20% increase in new cases since the last report. To date, there have been 6,779 confirmed cases and five deaths (Case Fatality Rate: 0.07%) due to dengue fever in Mauritius, with 4,723 local and 10 imported cases resulting in five deaths, and in Rodrigues, 2,041 local cases with no deaths.
