ROSATOM begins to test unique equipment for BREST-OD-300 nitride fuel fabrication

At ATOMEXPO-2024, a live video conference was held by ROSATOM with Seversk (Tomsk region, West Siberia), celebrating the starting tests of the unique carbothermal fusion equipment at the plant for the production of nuclear fuel for BREST-OD-300 Gen IV fast reactor. The industrial site is constructed as part of a strategic project called “Proryv” (“the Breakthrough”). The fuel manufacturing unit is the first facility to be commissioned at the “Pilot Demonstration Energy Complex”, in Seversk. The ROSATOM Director General Alexey Likhachev, the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi (in live video conference), and the World Nuclear Association Director General Sama Bilbao y León took part in the ceremony.
