In Viet Nam, a case of Avian Influenza A (H5N1) virus infection on a human was notified to WHO by state authorities on March 25th, 2024. The subject, without previous underlying health conditions, started to have symptoms on March 11th, due to verified prior exposure to birds during the third week of February, and died twelve days after, on March 23rd.
Since 2022, this has been the first human case of Avian Influenza A(H5N1) virus infection in Viet Nam.
