At Kursk NPP-2, actually under construction, welding of the main circulation pipeline (MCP) has been completed in the Unit 2 reactor building, connecting the reactor plant’s principal equipment to a single technological system, constituting its first circuit. The scope of the MCP is to circulate water in the first circuit from reactor to steam generators, and, at the actual operating stage of the NPP-2, a coolant with a temperature reaching 330°C will flow in the principal circulation center.
This NPP is a substitute station including two units each capable of 1255 MW. The building of the two units (1 and 2) of the Kursk NPP-2 is done within the Federal Project “Design and construction of reference power units of nuclear power plants” in the Comprehensive programme for the development of equipment, technologies and scientific research in the field of using atomic energy in Russian Federation until 2024.
