Papua New Guinea is the first country to have set up a clear path in adopting the regional WHO Data Management Competency Framework, in order to develop and strengthen its health information workforce. Papua New Guinea’s National Department of Health (NdoH), between capacity gaps at both national and sub-national levels, launched, in September 2023, the Provincial Health Authority Monitoring & Evaluation toolkit, jointly with data management competency profiles on the basis of WHO Data Management Competency Framework, aiming, with the initiative, to provide the health workforce with essential skills in managing data, analythics, and assessing the quality.
