France plans to expand its nuclear sector. French state energy company EDF has announced that the nuclear regulator has approved the final preparatory steps for the commissioning of a new reactor. For this, the plant is now expected to be loaded with nuclear fuel in the coming weeks. The reactor, at Flamanville on the English Channel, will be connected to the grid in mid-2024 and will be the first to be commissioned by France in more than two decades.
