Nuclear Youth Group launches operational campaign on Almaraz reactor

A group of Spanish youth, advocates for nuclear energy, has initiated a campaign opposing the scheduled shutdown of the Almaraz nuclear power plant in 2027. A spokesperson for the group stated that 2024 is a key year for the plant and for the Spanish company, as it corresponds to the deadline to revoke the closure decision and extend its operation beyond 2027. Finally, he stated that the extension of useful life means the purchase of more fuel supplies, new overhauls of equipment, components and systems, and the extension of the individualized temporary storage facility for spent fuel management.
