What happened

The US Air Force has tested a hypersonic cruise missile officially called the All-Up-Round AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW), at the Reagan Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The ARRW is composed of a rocket booster motor and a hypersonic glide vehicle that delivers a conventional warhead. Hypersonic glide vehicles can travel at speeds exceeding Mach 5, rendering them challenging to detect and intercept promptly. Their capability to maneuver and change altitude enables them to bypass existing missile defense systems. The US Air Force has not provided specific details about the test, including the ARRW’s speed, distance traveled, or whether it achieved its target.
