A health alert has been issued due to the discovery of a carcinogenic substance in a moisturizer available in Spain. The substance identified is butylphenyl methylpropional (more commonly known as Lilial), which is considered hazardous. Consequently, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), in collaboration with the government, has mandated the removal of certain batches from the market. As the health authorities explain, Lilial poses a greater risk in creams and other products that linger on the skin, compared to shampoos or gels that are rinsed off immediately.
