Nigeria: Federal government inaugurates committee on mines clearance

According to a statement from the Minister of State for Defence’s office, The federal government has inaugurated a committee to actualize the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in North East Nigeria. The committee is chaired by the Minister of State for Defence. Other members of the committee include representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Emergency Management Agency, Northeast Development Commission, and National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
