What happened

The Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) participates in the Justified Agreement 24 (JA24), aimed at strengthening the capabilities of counter-terrorism and stability operations hosted in Nanyuki, Laikipia County. The JA24 exercise draws armed forces from around the world, including special forces from the East and the Horn of Africa. The main objective is to hone the expertise of the participating forces in counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency and stability operations.

Through collaborative training, the exercise promotes international cooperation and prepares regional partners for both regional and international peace missions. The success of JA24 could serve as a model for future multinational military collaborations, emphasising the need for a collective approach to counterterrorism and insurgency operations.
